Cosi is a bar and restaurant fit out within a late 19th century building on Toorak Road. The project encompasses the complete renovation of the existing two storey building including the shopfront and the addition to the rear of a dining, courtyard space and kitchen service zone. Substantially rebuilt after fire in late 2003, Cosi retains the original fit out of 1996, while certain fine tuning has occurred with the relatively new operators.
Engaging with the street and through a series of spatial events and crafted objects, Cosi both entices investigation and provides for a variety of dining experiences. As a bar, a café and a restaurant with both indoor and outdoor dining, Cosi offers a multiple choice of usage. The rich array of textures and finishes are gathered to compose a fluid spatial transition from the entrance to the rear courtyard. The café / restaurant as a discovery of visual and culinary experiences in an atmosphere of comfortable ambiance.
